Initial Investigation

When Tabitha first went missing, authorities treated her as a runaway. Her age was the reason. Now they believe that she was kidnapped. Authorities questioned and investigated the parents. They did the same with Tabitha’s two adult siblings. None are named as suspects in her disappearance. One neighborhood boy told police that he saw Tabitha with a man on the morning she went missing. The car was described as red. The driver? He was described as African-American. His estimated age was 30 to 40 years old. He was wearing a baseball cap. The boy once stated that once Tabitha was inside the car, it reversed course. And then it headed back up the hill.

Credible Lead?

Eyewitness testimony is not always reliable. The boy’s story has not been confirmed. Some investigators see problems with his credibility. But tracker dogs did detect Tabitha’s scent along a route that was like the one the boy spoke about. And those dogs eventually traced the teen’s scent into an alley. That alley is a place that Tabitha’s friends say she wouldn’t ever have gone to alone. The former boyfriend of Tabitha’s sister matches the description of the driver. For he drove a red car. He knew where and when Tabitha took the school bus to every morning. Investigators could not connect him with Tuders’ disappearance.

Signs of Foul Play?

Families know their loved ones better than anyone. Generally. Tabitha’s parents stated that they didn’t believe that she would have willingly gotten into a car with anyone. Only with a family member. But a piece of paper in Tabitha’s room may give clues as to why she went missing. It is pictured above in an image. That paper reads: “T.D.T. – M.T.L.”. It was in the teen’s handwriting. T.D.T. are Tabitha’s initials. But investigators can’t identify the other person’s initials. Also, a business car, which was Tabitha’s, was found.

What did that business card say?It had her name, address, phone number, and notations. The notations included the words: “Call me,” “Sexy girl,” and the latter was crossed out. Then it was rewritten as “ghetto girl.” It was later found out that this card had nothing to do with the missing teen’s case. A friend had given it to her.

Other Leads?

One missing persons case can often be connected with other cases. Police searched the logs of a computer where Tabitha reportedly visited Internet chat rooms. But they were not able to unearth anything that could give insight into her case. Martin Tim Boyd was arrested with trying to lure an 11-year-old girl into his car. That happened four months before Tabitha went missing. Authorities looked into him as a person of interest in Tuders’ case. This is because of the kind of offense he was charged with. His alleged offense happened only a few blocks from Tuders’ home. But police could not link Boyd and Tuders. So he was taken off the suspect list.

CA Linked Case?

Tabitha had been missing almost five months. This was on August 19, 2003. Heaven Ross, 11, went missing when on her way to school in Northport, Alabama. Three years later, in Holt, Alabama, this Ross’s remains were found. Her murder remains unsolved. Heaven looked like Tabitha. She had light-colored hair and vanished in the morning. And did so on the way to school. Were the two cases connected? The distance between Nashville and Northport is great. And no evidence has so far connected Tuders with Ross.
