This is another “few details are available” cases. Richard Scott Ashley’s case shows that missing persons searches are unequal. HE has been missing for over 32 years. I find it difficult to suspend judgment in these cases where virtually no details are available to help locate a missing person. We are told not to view such cases as a lack of caring about the missing person. But cases like Richard Scott =Ashley’s give the appearance of some kind of system incompetence or breakdown. Are his family members deceased so they aren’t available to keep his case going? Was he estranged from his family? Why do some missing persons get so much attention and public concern and support, while so many others get next to nothing?
