WASHINGTON, D.C.–The Metropolitan Police Department is seeking the public’s assistance. They are looking for then-16-year-old Nyra Shumate. She is now 17 years old. Nyra was last seen in the 1500 block of Alabama Avenue, Southeast. This incident occurred on Friday, January 11, 2019 at 12:00 P.M.

This incident was reported on January 11, 2019.

Nyra Shumate is described as an African-American female. She is described as having a medium complexion. Nyra is 5’10” in height and 155 pounds. She has brown eyes and black hair. Nyra was last seen wearing a white polo style shirt, khaki pants and black Ugg boots. It is unknown what Nyra was doing when was last seen or who last saw her. Nor is her mode of transportation known or if she took any personal belongings with her. Nyra is missing under unknown circumstances.
She is classified as critically missing.
