Opinion

Madeline Kelly Edman has been missing for 14 years. And there seems to be absolutely no sign of any break in her case. Police express frustration of not getting any tips or leads. Investigators put it this way: There is nothing to prove that foul play is involved. But there is no evidence that can rule it out, either. There is no evidence pointing to Madeline being alive.

Nor is there any evidence proving her being deceased. The saddest of all is that her grandmother believes that Madeline not only “just ran away.” She actually believes that Madeline is “out there” and is hiding from her family because she “wants nothing to do with them.” The grandmother has issued the plea: Come home. We miss you. That is nice, but it’s highly unlikely that Madeline is somewhere hiding out from her family.
