Kelsie’s Pregnancy

It was at the Christmas break that Kelsie became pregnant. SChelling told her mom that Lucas wasn’t happy about the pregnancy. Sometimes she feared that, after she gave birth, Lucas would abandon her and the baby. At other times, he threatened to take the baby away from her. Schelling left all her belongings behind at her apartment. And she gave no indication that she planned to walk out of her life. And her phone battery died on February 7. Since Kelsie went missing,

Lucas has refused to cooperate with law enforcement. He remains a person of interest in her disappearance. But he has not been charged. Foul play is suspected in her case.

Kelsie had given her unborn baby a name and on August 4, a status update was written on her Facebook page.

2 summers ago, my husband and I picked out this memorial tree for Kelsie and Kadrie. I love this tree because it is beautiful and it is vibrant as was Kelsie. Each season I worry about caring for the tree so that it will survive and flourish, just as I did when I raised Kelsie. Today, it has been 4 1/2 years since Kelsie and baby Kadrie were taken from our family. The sadness never goes away, no matter the season, no matter the day. The pain never stops. I feel Kelsie’s spirit so much in nature–in the beautiful tree, in a butterfly, or a hummingbird. I feel her spirit but I long to physically hold her and talk to her. 4 1/2 years is a long time. Many changes occur. She would be a mommy. Our conversations would be different and special in ways they never had been before. I don’t know how many more seasons I can last not getting her back, but I hope we don’t have to wait much longer.
