Heather Rachelle Elvis was last seen in Myrtle Beach, South Carolina. To be exact, she has never been seen since 2:00 A.M. on December 18, 2013. (From this point the timeline seems confusing). She was going on a first date with on the evening of December 17. And her date had dropped her off at her home. Her home was located in the 500 block of White River Drive. This was just off River Oaks Drive. Heather Elvis had called her female roommate. Her roommate had, at the time, been visiting out-of-state relatives.

Heather had placed the call at 3:00 A.M., to tell her roommate how her date went. And the two of them talked for a couple of minutes. This is according to family and friends. (The timeline on the Charley Project page seems to be blurry and unclear.) This was the last time anyone spoke to Elvis. She has never been seen again.

Car Found Abandoned

The vehicles of missing people are fund abandoned. At 10:43 P.M., on December 19, Heather’s car was found abandoned. This was the day after she was last seen. The car is described as a dark green 2011 Dodge Intrepid. It had South Carolina License Plates. Her car was found both locked and abandoned. It had been found at the Peachtree Boat landing along the Waccamaw River in Socastee, South Carolina. Heather’s keys, purse, and cell phone were missing from the car. And they haven’t been found.

The place where Elvis’s car was parked is on the outskirts of Myrtle Beach. And it is only about an eight-minute drive from Heather’s parent’s home. Reportedly, Heather liked to go out on the water occasionally. But she never went out late at night. Thus the timing of the discovery of her car was suspicious.

Prior to Her Disappearance

Heather carried on a romantic relationship with a married man. His name is Sydney Moorer and he was 37 years old. Before her disappearance, Heather’s roommate stated that the relationship ended over a month before she vanished.
But on the night Heather went missing, there were several calls between her and Sydney. Sydney, according to Heather’s family and friends, called her from a payphone. And he called her in the middle of the night. (Here, also, the details on her Charley Project page are muddled).

What happened during this phone call? According to Elvis’s roommate, Heather was upset and crying. And she told her roommate that Sydney told her that he was leaving his wife to be with her. He denied this and claimed that he had not seen her since October. He admitted that he called her. But he claimed that it was only to tell her to stop calling him. According to Heather’s family and friend, this cell phone activity ended at around 3:41 A.M. at Peace Tree Landing.

The Suspects

Sydney Moorer and Tammy Caison Moorer were suspects in Heather’s disappearance. Tammy is Sydney’s wife of twenty years. On February 21, 2014, both were arrested two counts of indecent exposure and one count of obstruction of justice each. Shortly afterwards, both were charged with Elvis’s abduction and then with her murder. Investigators believe that abducted Heather and then murdered her at the Peachtree Boat Landing. That is, they are believed to have done this where her car was found.

In March 2016, however, the charges of indecent exposure, obstruction of justice, and murder, against this couple, were dismissed. Insufficient evidence was cited. The abduction charges were still pending, however. Sydney was tried for abduction in June 2016. But the jury was unable to reach a verdict, resulting in a mistrial. Sydney is awaiting re-trial Tammy has yet to be tried. This is not to state that the Moorers are not guilty. Authorities have just not been able to find sufficient evidence to prove what they believe.
