It was in the early morning hours of July 15, 1986. The home was in Colorado Springs, Colorado. The night before July 15, Christopher’s parents put him to bed at midnight. In the early hours of the morning after, they discovered that his crib was empty. And they were unable to locate the baby. Their garage door opener reportedly was missing. And a basement door was open. Christopher has never been heard from again. His parents reported him missing to authorities at 6:30 A.M. When police arrived at the home, they couldn’t find any signs of forced entry. But the front door was unlocked on the night of his disappearance.

Initially, members of Christopher’s family seemed like they could be suspects in his case. Before Christopher disappeared, his parents were separated. But they were reconciling. Reportedly, on the night of Christopher’s disappearance was the first night that his father was at home since the separation. Attributing it to a withdrawal from tranquilizers, Christopher’s mother reportedly failed two polygraph exams. Authorities haven’t cleared either parent of involvement in the disappearance of their son. But they have not been charged in connection with it. Three weeks after Christopher vanished, they drained Quail Lake. It is three blocks from the family’s home. They were looking for his body but found nothing.

Odd Phone Calls

Christopher’s family refuse to presume him deceased. They believe that he and his guardians don’t know that he has been kidnapped. His parents operate a website featuring information about his case. It is linked below. He may possibly be located in Texas or New Mexico and there are other possible locations. According to their website, the family had been receiving phone calls for about six months before Christopher went missing. But when Christopher vanished, the phone calls stopped. Then, several months later, the phone calls resumed.

Incompetence? Injustice?

His sister believes that Emma Bradshaw was the abductor. She reportedly had an affair with Christopher’s father. And she has a history of break-ins. Bradshaw maintains her innocence in Christopher’s disappearance. And police have not named her as a suspect. Reportedly, in 2015, Bradshaw won a civil judgment for $150,000 against Christopher’s sister. The complaint was that the sister was interfering with Bradshaw’s employment. Some time after Christopher’s disappearance, the Colorado Springs Police Department destroyed most of the evidence in the case. In turn, his family accused them of negligence and incompetence in their investigation.

How We Can Help

Has the system failed Christopher Abeyta? It is incredibly odd that his family got a lot of calls before their baby vanished. And the calls stop when he goes missing. How was the person behind these calls able to avoid authorities for 32 years? The hope that Christopher is alive and is being raised by another family, is what keeps his parents going. It’s time to reward their hope and bring their son home to his rightful parents. This case disturbs me. Why have police seemed to focus so much on the family? And why no investigation of other possible suspects? And, above all, why did they destroy most of the case evidence?

Do you have any information on the whereabouts of Christopher Enoch Abeyta? His abductor (s)? Are you reading this and sense that there is something “not quite right” about the family who raised you? Can you be a “stolen baby?” Don’t hesitate! The truth will set you free. It’s better than living a life based on a lie.
