Circumstances

Allison Taylor Bayliss was last seen riding her black, purple and white mountain bicycle. She was riding it in front of San Ramon Valley High School. It was where she was a sophomore. Allison was last seen at 8:00 A.M. on May 23, 2011. She has never been heard from again. Her family reported her missing that afternoon when she didn’t come home from school.

At 4:45 A.M. the next day, her bike was found locked to a rack. It was found in this fashion in the Battery East parking lot. The parking lot was located east of the San Francisco side of the Golden Gate Bridge. Allison’s bike helmet was hanging from the handlebars.

Suicide?

Authorities determined Allison Taylor Bayliss had taken a train. She took the Bay Area Rapid Transit (BART) train from her Danville, California home. She took the train to the Embarcadero stop in San Francisco. And then she rode her bike nine miles across the city to the Golden Gate Bridge. Allison jumped from the bridge at approximately 10:00 A.M. the day of her disappearance.

Allison left behind suicide notes for her family and friends. And her computer history showed she’d looked up directions to the bridge. Allison was a popular straight-A student. She ran track and was on her school’s junior varsity swim team in 2011. And she also enjoyed playing the piano and posting her musical performances on the internet. Her body has never been found.

Opinion

This is supremely heartbreaking case. Police allege that Allison Taylor Bayliss had actually killed herself on the day of her disappearance. Her information indicates that aside from her Asperger’s Syndrome, Allison had it made. She was talented, popular, got straight A’s, and engaged in multiple extracurricular activities at her school. Apparently, she was not as happy as her life would warrant she would be.

The opinion piece I linked to this piece states that Allison “almost certainly” did not enjoy emotional support at home. Whatever the case may be, they are going through a nightmare that may never end. Her body has never been found. Is it possible that Allison may be alive somewhere and may be living “off the grid”? If she is alive, she needs to be found. And if she is deceased, her body needs to be found so her family can bury her properly.
